Prior to your thermogram it is important you read and comply with the preparation requirements. These can be found in the Forms section of our web site. Following these requirements will guarantee you the most accurate thermogram possible.
The imaging room is cooled to 68 degrees and is controlled so the temperature remains within 1 degree centigrade throughout the imaging procedure.
You will be disrobed from the waist up and allowed to acclimate to room temperature. This allows for heat artifact from clothing, physical activity, etc., to dissipate. Not following this procedure will result in a thermogram with artifact that will be suggestive of problems in the breast when none may actually exist. After about 10 minutes, 12 images will be taken, six in color and 6 in high resolution gray scale. This will take about 4 minutes.
Following your thermogram I will provide you with a quick assessment of your thermogram and answer any questions you might have. Once the full report is completed you will have an opportunity to meet with me in person to review the report or we can mail it to you and discuss it over the phone. There is no additional cost for the follow up appointment. Your health care provider will also be sent a copy of the report if you wish. If you were referred by a health care provider, they will automatically be sent a copy of your report.
Should your thermogram be abnormal, we will discuss your next steps and assist you in achieving optimal breast health.
